Green Tea Greatness!

Did you know… an antioxidant in green tea called epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG) has been shown to have great anti-cancer properties.

Damage to the DNA (which carries our genetic material) in our cells can lead to the cells becoming cancerous.

A naturally occurring anti-cancer protein in our body however, called P53, has a number of anti-cancer functions. These include:

  • DNA repair
  • Stopping cell growth to allow DNA repair
  • Initiating the destruction of cancerous cells if DNA can’t be repaired

And what EGCG is being shown to do is boost P53’s anti-cancer activity, and even increase levels of P53!
